Mr. Ticklers Base Oils | Part I | Hemp Oil
Over the next few weeks Mr. Ticklers will be telling you guys why we use our special blend of oils, which are: Hemp, Coconut, Grape seed and Jojoba. We’ll be telling you why each base oil was chosen and how they can benefit your beard. This week, we’re going to start with Hemp Oil.
A bit of history behind hemp
You may have heard bad things in the press about hemp but it really isn’t what you think, let us explain. Hemp oil comes from the same species of plant that psychoactive marijuana comes from. However, it is from a different variety. It’s like having Lemon and Limes, they are both citrus fruits, but they come from different trees. Hemp oil has very low THC levels (Tetrahydrocannabinoids) in fact only one-tenth compared to the smoking variety. Furthermore, industrial hemp has higher concentrations of a chemical called Cannabidiol (CBD) that has a negative effect on THC and lessens its psychoactive effects when smoked in conjunction.
We get questions about hemp oil asking if it gets you high, I hope this paragraph explains. If not just drop us an email on our contact page.
So why Hemp oil?
Where do we start? Hemp oil strengthens and nourishes your beard hair from within by preventing water loss. It also benefits your skin beneath, keeping it from drying up and causing that unwanted beard-ruff (beard dandruff). The lipids present in the oil increase hair’s elasticity, volume, and shine while softening the strands from the vitamin E and fatty acids (Omega-3 fatty acids, Omega-6 fatty acids and Omega-9 fatty acids) making it a perfect beard conditioner! After all softer, hydrated hair is much stronger than dry, brittle hair.
We can go on forever about this oil but here is just a few more facts about hemp:
- Smell: Slight nutty odour (not unpleasant to most people)
- Colour: This varies but mainly light brown in colour
- Perfect for: Skin disorders like psoriasis, eczema, acne and dry skin beneath the beard!
- Where it’s from: Our Hemp oil we use is harvested in England
That is it for now!
Next week we will be talking about coconut oil and why we use this oil in our blend...Have a great day and Tickle on!
