What is beard oil?

Mr. Ticklers Beard Oil is an all natural blend of carrier oils and essential oils mixed together. All ingredients holding their own individual benefits. This creates a complete glorious cocktail for both skin and hair.

Why use beard oil?

Why oh why? Dean worked as a lifeguard in probably the most humid, hot environment you could image and if it wasn’t for the regular application of oil, his beard would have fell off his face. A beard is very susceptible to the elements and it shows it can look dry, wirery and full on unattractive. Using beard oil gives back those nutrients taken by the elements. It also protects the forgotten about skin underneath.

When should I start using beard oil?

Believe it or not you can use beard oil almost straight away. Some even use it as an aftershave for the moisturising and soothing qualities. The benefit of using beard oils is to help to soften the hair and the skin around it to let the hair break through reducing the chance of ingrowing hair. If you use it once or twice a day from the beginning you are giving your beard a fighting start in the growth and repair of both the hair and skin.

When is the best time to apply beard oil?

Mr. Ticklers' personal choice would be after a bath or a shower, a facial wash or if you have had a prolonged exposure to the elements. Your beard will tell you, if you feel it and it's starting to feel a tad ruggish, then add a little oil. It's all down to either little and often or one lump sum a day.

How do i use beard oil?

It all depends on beard length, so place 3 to 5 drops on your hand and use your finger tips to work it into the depths of your beard. If this is a extraordinary Gandalf beard then repeat this process until you are satisfied and all hairs have been reached.

What is better beard oil or beard balm?

Depending on what you want from the product, an oil is always better for the scents and introducing a more immediate moisturising effect as it is absorbed quicker, but a balm is better for manageability and hold. So it can be used for more the male grooming side. Oil can usually be applied quicker for people in a hurry. Also another preference would be the texture as some enjoy the feel of oil over balm in their beard or vice versa it is all down to your individuality.

How long will my beard oil last?

This is all down to a multitude of considerations from the length, thickness and how often you use your oil. To name just a couple, from some background research some people have used it in three months (10ml) some are using it a year later. (We don't recommend the later as it does have a shelf life as it's all natural).

Would beard oil help me with a short beard/long stubble?

Yes, all day long. It does not matter how long your beard is. Beard oil will always help. Dean for example has to shave for work and he's still using it as a shaving oil and he has noticed the benefits there also.

Where should i store my beard oil to increase oil life?

Like with many oils the best place is always a cool dark place, prolonged exposure to sunlight isn't good for the best of us. Keeping it away from sunlight will help to increase the oils life.

Are beards really as dirty as people think?

This all comes back to your personal hygiene and how you look after it. We all understand that food and drinks will get into parts of you beard at some point but the difference is how long you leave it there. Wash it regularly and treat it with products and it will be clean enough to eat off. For more proof of this read our beardy benefits blog on this here.

Why is my beard so dry and brittle?

  • Hydration – Keeping well hydrated will increase the healthy look of your beard. The better you are hydrated the less the skin will draw moisture away from the places it deems not as important (unfortunately this is your beard) so keep that welsh mineral water to hand.

Elements – Exposure to the elements has a massive effect on your facial fuzz. Dry heating, wind, and sun all has its own effect on your beard. Regular application of beard oil/balm balm with reduce the effects the elements have and will alleviate the problems caused by the them.

Treatment - How you treat your crop will determine how it grows, if you neglect its needs it won't yield a good harvest. Same goes with anything, what you put in is what you get out. Treating it with oils, balms, regular washes and hydration, will repay you with a beautiful itch and smell free luxurious man maine.
